Growing Tips
Prairie Fruit Varieties

Blueberries

Blueberries are always a popular fruit. Not only delicious, they are also great antioxidants.

Blueberries require a very acidic soil to do well. A Ph of 4.5 is needed. Soils should contain a lot of peat and be modified by the addition of sulphur. It is usually necessary to add sulphur yearly to keep the PH at the right level. Complete growing instructions and a package of sulphur will be included with your order.

Blueberries are to some extent self fruitful but better crops are produced if two different varieties are planted.

Berries range in size from 7mm to 12mm (1/4 to 1/2 an inch). Fruit begins to ripen in early August and extends through into September. All varieties are considered sweet and may be used for eating fresh, cooking, juice, jam and winemaking.
