USES OF APPLES
Kathy, one of my staff, was musing one day about all the uses of apples. This is the list she came up with. It demonstrates just how versatile the apple is. I'm sure if you think about it you will be able to come up with many more. Send us some of your ideas.
Eat apples fresh, apple wine, apple molasses (boil down sweet apple juice), apple pudding - many kinds, candied apples, dried apples, apple leather, apple sauce, spiced apples, apple juice, apple syrup, apple cider, apple liquor, apple cider vinegar, baked apples, apple cookies, apple bread, apple pie -various, apple cake, apple pancakes, apple butter, apple cobbler, apple crisp, apple salsa, canned apples, scalloped apples, apple fritters, apple dumplings, apple jelly and mixed with other fruit, ie apple-raspberry jelly, apple salad, apple charlotte, apple tarts, brandied apples, compote, apple stuffing, apple soup, apple snow - technically a pudding, apple frosting - for cakes, apples dipped in a sauce or dip.
Non-edible uses: bob for apples, apple head dolls, artwork - ie stamping, apple centerpieces, apple mask for face, apple decorated wreaths and swags, use to demonstrate mathematical concepts - adding etc., food for birds, use dried pieces for games - ie checkers, use for target practice either as the targets or the projectiles, Christmas tree ornaments, compost, pruned branches for making wreaths, trellises, primitive furnishings.
Apple trees can be grown for shade, privacy, fruit production, flowers, leaf color, artistry, espalier - to fill in blank walls, fences, to define space.
